Как рассказал королевский шеф-повар Марк Фланаган изданию The Telegraph, принц Гарри и Меган Маркл выбрали несколько иной формат ужина, нежели был у их предшественников, устроив для гостей помимо традиционного застолья фуршет. Детали меню держатся в строжайшем секрете, однако известно, что пара поставила условие: все продукты должны быть сезонными и доставляться с ферм, давно проверенных королевской семьей. Таким образом, ожидается множество блюд из спаржи и гороха. 

Шеф-повар Селвин Стоби, отвечающий за кондитерские изделия на свадьбе, рассказал о том, как он готовит для гостей шоколадные трюфели — любимый десерт, который подается на приемах в течение года в Виндзорском замке.

Каждый рецепт был испытан и проверен много раз. «Это своего рода наука, — говорит шеф-повар Стоби о выпечке. — Вы должны быть немного химиком, чтобы все получилось, а еще креативным и внимательным к деталям».

Свадебные гастрономические традиции монархов на протяжении столетий претерпевают изменения. Так, на торжестве Генриха III и Элеоноры Прованской в 1236 году еда была настолько роскошной, что едва не привела к разорению королевского дома. Очевидцы описывали пир так: «Сверкающий и славный ужин с обилием разнообразных рыб, оленины и мясных блюд». 

На свадебном празднике Генриха VII и его невесты, Елизаветы Йоркской, повара включили в меню  в большом количестве каштаны, фисташки и кедровые орехи, и обосновали это так: эти продукты стимулируют либидо, усиливают потенцию мужа, а также помогают плодовитости жены. Правильно, ведь главная цель создания союза — продолжение королевского рода.

Когда Елизавета II вышла замуж за Филиппа Маунтбэттена в 1947 году, только-только отступила послевоенная аскеза. Гостям подавали куропаток, а торт был высотой более двух метров.

В ожидании главного британского застолья предлагаем приготовить ужин, который легко  можно представить на столе такой интернациональной пары, как принц Гарри и Меган Маркл. Шеф-повар ресторана Robert Burn делится рецептом традиционных macaroni cheese, по-простому — макарон с сыром. Блюдо это было придумано в Америке, а британцы его очень любят и готовят на особый манер.

Ингредиенты:

Макароны — 100 г
Сливочное масло — 15 г
Мука — 20 г
Молоко — 120 мл
Чеддер — 150 г
Соль — 2 г
Паприка — 1 г
Фарш свиной — 70 г
Специи по вкусу

Способ приготовления:

1. Фарш заправить специями, сформировать колбаски, нарезать на небольшие куски, заморозить.

2. Сыр натереть, в сотейнике расплавить сливочное масло, добавить муку, постепенно влить молоко, постоянно помешивая, а затем добавить специи и сыр. Перемешать до однородной плотности.

3. Макароны отварить до готовности.

4. Пожарить колбаски на сковородке, за 2 минуты до готовности добавить макароны. Переложить ингредиенты в глубокую тарелку, залить сырным соусом, посыпать сыром, поставить запекаться в духовку на 3-5 минут.

5. При подаче украсить макароны мелко рубленной зеленью на ваш вкус.
